I'm sure I am the last person on the face of the earth to receive their copy of Traditional Home.....and this edition is absolutely wonderful! I am so in love with Jill's apartment from the TV show Housewives of New York!!!! Her gay husband was the decorator and he did not disappoint! Everything is divine right down to the place settings on the dining room table. You simply MUST pick up a copy if you haven't received yours in the mail yet.

a birthday gift...........

My darling husband bought this wire cloche along with my favorite potpourri and scented candle for my birthday a couple of days ago. Isn't it just the cutest thing? Although the cloche was a wonderful gift the best gift was that my husband came home from work early and spent some time with me...just the two of us! Have a Happy Easter everyone!!!!

Big impact with very little cost.......

Today I was thinking about all the work that went into renovating our house to get it to the condition it is currently. It occurred to me that a few things with the most impact really didn't cost a lot. One example is changing the door in the dining room and adding molding. I'm embarrassed to admit that we lived in the house five years before changing the door out and the reason wasn't for cosmetic reasons but for health reasons! Our neighbor burns less than desirable wood in their fireplace and it smolders which causes it to smoke like a car with a bad engine most days. Since our house is so old and the wind blows pretty much all the time the smoke used to blow in thru the door causing me headaches,watery eyes, and my throat to swell shut. Finally one day I agreed to change the door and my husband promptly went to Lowes and brought this beauty home! The amount of light the door lets in is amazing and the best part is....no smoke! We also bought a new storm door to finish off the new look. My husband made the molding around the door to match the original molding so it looks like it was always there when in fact it was not. This door used to be the front door originally when the house was a schoolhouse.
