House update:
Yesterday we officially took the house off the market! Last night I slept like a rock without all the stress looming over me! It is such a relief not to have to deal with flakey buyers, snarkey realtors, and the burdeon of keeping the house immaculate!!! I can't wait to make a mess in my house finally!!!!!!!!!!!!
Birdie update:
No babies yet....momma birdie is sitting on her next waiting patiently only leaving to grab a bite to eat in the evenings.

A blue and white treasure.....................

A few weeks ago Mr. D and I stopped in at one of the local antique shops we frequent regularly in the city. I have had my eye on a French chair with rush seat they have there and was hoping to bring the beauty home to place in my living room. After closer inspection though we realized the seat had been exposed to the elements and was in pretty rough shape. In the end we decided to pass on the chair but decided to take a quick look around the shop to see if they had gotten any new things in. Imagine my surprise when I spotted this blue and white garden seat! I know your thinking big deal, everyone sells them around here. Well, NOT where I live.....and NOT for $40!!!!! Mr. D. rolled his eyes and asked,"Are you sure you really want THIS......where on earth where you put it?" He explained it had crazing and the bottom edge was really rough. I almost squealed out loud with delight that my new found treasure was an antique .......complete with crazing!!! He didn't get it but agreed to buy it for his wife who was giddy with excitement and smiling from ear to ear. Gotta love that man.......................

Birdie update..............

Last night we had strong winds and tons of rain all night long. So, of course I had to check on Birdie to make sure she was holding up okay! She and the eggs were all doing fine....in fact there are five eggs now! If my calculations are correct we should see little babies in about ten days!!!

The last few days every time I would go outside with the dogs to take them potty a bird would fly out of the rose bush by the back door. At first it startled me and I thought how odd that this bird kept roosting in the bush?!??! Finally today I had an a-ha moment.....yes indeed it is a momma bird sitting on her nest! The momma birdie is a Cardinal with beautiful hues of red and tans. I couldn't resist snapping a pic of the nest to share with all of you. I tried to get one of the momma birdue too but she was too quick for me! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend?!?!?!?

A true masterpiece or junk?

I have always thought radiators were little masterpieces of art. The detail on them is just amazing for something that is so utilitarian. I'm not sure when my obsession for them really started but I have always, always, always wanted one! About a year ago we found this petite one that I thought was absolutely perfect for our house. I had it sandblasted then gave it a fresh coat of paint. It then sat in our storage room for.......a year! After much pleading Mr. D finally agreed to dolly it into the house where it found it's home in the downstairs bath. I love it!!!! I'm sure I am the only one who feels it's special but that's okay.........

Hello,my name is Des and I'm a furniture-a-holic! Yes, that's right.....I have no self control when it comes to chairs and tables. Especially when they are such a fabulous deal like this one! I found this one on Craig's List for only $65. It was an hour away from where I live so I asked the man to hold it for me for three days and he said no. I was soooo disappointed because Mr. D was working ten hour days last week because of the holiday. I figured it just wasn't mean to be........Then Mr. D came home one day and asked if the table was still on Craig's List and available. As luck would have it,it was still available so we went and picked it up that evening. I know you are probably wondering why I didn't just go pick it up myself?!?! Well, you see I am a big ole chicken! Driving the big honker truck in rush hour traffic in KC scares the beejeebers out of me. Plus I'm scared I'll get lost and in up all alone in the "hood". One of these days I'll have to put on my big girl pants and just do it but until then I'm enjoying my new little table.

I wish I could say I have been busy designing and taking jaunts all over the country side to find amazing treasures the last couple of weeks. The truth is however, the babies have been sick and life has just been hectic. Anyways....I'm back now and missed you all soooooo much!!!!! Here is the Craig's List settee FINALLY! It makes me smile every time I walk into the room...... and the wait for the last six years has finally paid off! It is the perfect piece for the room AND I got it for $50 less since it had a couple of minor stains. Hope you all had a safe and wonderful Independence Day!!!!!!
