More Texas goodness……

french piece in LR 003

My most favorite find while in Texas was the mercury glass apothecary jars seen on the third shelf. I only wish I had bought more now they were such a good deal!

  Isn’t the patina just beautiful?

These little eggs in the wooden crate were also a Texas find along with the Chinese brush.

Just another view of all the lovelies…….

I’m not sure what we are doing this weekend yet  but if it doesn’t rain I think we will be playing in the dirt!  Our patio area is beginning to look like a nursery with all the plants we have purchased lately!!!!! Have a great weekend!!!!!

A hidden treasure…….

bench 006

I picked this little bench up when we were in Round top Texas a few weeks ago. I paid $40 for it which is a real deal compared to what they sell for at a lot of places!

bench 003 I picked the books up at various antique shops……only paying $2 or $3 for each of them. I then removed the covers and bound them with jute and string.

bench 005                                                                        The handwriting on the front is beautiful……….

bench 007

As you can see the little bench is completely hidden behind the sofa and can only be seen when you first walk in the front door. One of the quirks of living in an old house is the limitations of furniture placement in rooms that were originally intended for much smaller scaled furniture and entirely different purposes!

My poor camera is on it’s last leg so I am looking for a new one. I would love the hear what all of you use. I need something that is user friendly and that won’t break the bank. Hopefully the one I have now will hang on just  a bit longer?!?!?!?

Spring has finally arrived!

Spring has finally sprung here….hooray! I cut some vines off the ever sprouting Honeysuckle that is planted next to our front door and put them in this little mercury glass vase.

I picked these two baskets up at Nell Hills a couple of months ago and they fit perfectly in front of the settee. I believe they are offered in her online boutique now if you *need* a set of your very own. They were originally a dark brown and I gave them a quick coat of my grey special blend paint to lighten them up a bit.

The books were one of the treasures we found while in Round Top Texas……they are purely decorative but add that special touch to this reading area.

Have a great week!!!! Chat with ya soon!!!!!

The perfect table…….

brown drapes 006

Wednesday already…where has this week gone? I thought I would share a pic of my coffee table. It was a Christmas gift from Mr. D. Over the years I have had quite a few different tables but could never find one that fit,”just right”. I think this one is a keeper?!?!?!
