When my husband and I were
first married I decorated our home with country primitives.
Then I became smitten with European antiques
so I slowly sold most of the primitive pieces.
I still love the style though….sometimes I wish I had two houses
so I could have the best of both worlds.
Have a great weekend my friends!

I have always loved cupolas with weathervanes……
About seven years ago my
husband found a rooster weathervane while traveling for work.
It then sat in storage waiting for the perfect cupola.
Then one day Mr. Handy man saw an ad on Craig’s List for a roof steeple.
As it turns out it was a cupola with copper roof off an old barn.
We met the seller at an agreed upon church parking lot and I instantly saw the
potential so it came home with us!
After a little work Mr.Handyman installed it on the top of the
garage a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE IT….it was meant to be!

A year ago we adopted our sweet little Yorkie Booger.
His family no longer had time in
their lives for him and asked that we please take him.
(Booger the day after we brought him home)
At the time we already had two Yorkies and a Border Collie/Lab
so we didn’t plan on adopting another dog.
However the thought of him staying in a home where he was
neglected broke my heart!
So, I said yes……we would give him a new home.
Booger adjusted immediately, as though he had always lived here.
He is absolutely the sweetest boy!
He has the funniest animated looks and
is a bit of a drama queen!
A few months ago our sweet Yorkie Simon passed away
so we are a two Yorkie household again…..
I cannot imagine our lives without our sweet Booger.
Mommy loves you baby boy!
Have a great week my friends!
A big THANK YOU to all my friends who open their
hearts and homes to rescue sweet fur babies!!!!!

I found this cute little ironstone gravy boat the other day at the antique mall.Yes, I am completely aware that I do not need one more piece of ironstone……However, it was 45 %off and I just can’t say no to a good deal you know!
It found a spot on the French baker’s table in the dining room.

A few years ago I got rid of all my
chickens in the kitchen since they were no longer “in style.”
I instantly regretted my decision and ever since then
they have been finding their way back in.
Over the weekend I found this one
at my favorite antique mall,
Although he is meant
for the great outdoors I couldn’t stand
putting him out there and
risk him loosing more of his wonderful paint.
Have a great week my friends!!!!!!

Love is like a piece of artwork,
even the smallest bit can be so beautiful.

I thought it would be fun to
share a few photos of the outside of our home
and how it has looked over the years.
The first picture was taken in the early 1900’s.
The steeple had been taken down and a new metal roof had been installed.
The inside of the schoolhouse had been converted into a private residence
and was now a farmhouse.
We believe this picture was taken in the 1930’s.
We know the well was capped during this time because the
date is on the well next to the pump.
The next couple of pictures were taken in
1984 before the house went under renovation to be converted into a B&B.
This is how the house looked when we bought it in 2003.
It had started to fall into disrepair again, there was ivy growing on the
inside of the house upstairs and the plaster was cracking badly.
The back wall of the house was bulging and needed to be rebuilt along
with a very long list of other issues.
The house today……
Over the years we have given
up vacations and a lot of other luxuries
so we could save this house.
In the end I wouldn’t trade it for anything though!
Have a great weekend my friends!
a la’ prochaine!

A bell is not a bell
until someone rings it,
a song is not a song
until someone sings it.
Love wasn't put
in the heart to stay,
for love isn't love
'til you give it away.
