A new slipcovered settee…….

Remember when I decided that I wanted a simpler seating group in the living room? Well that lasted for about five months and then I decided I missed the settee seating arrangement.

living room

I started looking for a settee and while there were a lot of petite antique pieces none were suitable for slipcovering. Then one day when I had pretty much given up the search I found this settee on Craig’s List.

Untitled 1

My husband did not share my excitement when he first saw it…..he couldn’t see past the blue upholstery. I kept reassuring him it would be wonderful once it was slipcovered.

The wood on the arms is sooooo pretty…..

I had to use a really heavy denim fabric so the blue upholstery fabric would not show thru the slipcover since I didn’t want to line the slipcover. I broke a lot of needles and said a lot of bad words while making the slipcover!!!! In the end it turned out beautiful though and it was well worth it. The settee that was in the living room before is upstairs in the hallway sitting area.

Have a great weekend my friends!!!

Wow, what a beautiful job you did. I have always wanted to sew a slipcover that shows off the wood arms. Have you ever done a tutorial on making slipcovers? Have a wonderful weekend.

The slipcover is beautiful - love the details on the arms. Could you please tell where you purchased the denim fabric? I have so many samples from online suppliers, but none have been thick enough to cover my floral sofa. Think I might have to add a lining, but was hoping to avoid doing that.

Oh my goodness....simply STUNNING! The settee style itself, and then your amazing workmanship on the slip cover! I sew (a LOT) but have no talent for this amount of work! I've tried you tube and Pinterest tutorials, however...I don't think i have the patience! The entire scene in so chic!
