For many years I have always wanted a prie dieu, otherwise known as a prayer chair. They can often be quite pricey and very hard to find. Then one day I found one listed on Craig’s List….
I was soooo excited but my bubble was burst quickly when the seller emailed me that someone else was interested in the chair and was coming to pick it up.
I moved on and figured it just wasn’t meant to be….
A couple of weeks later the seller emailed me again and said if I wanted it to come pick it up that day! We made the hour drive and it was mine,mine,mine!!
The chair was so beautiful and had the original tapestry still instact.
After living with the chair in my room for a few weeks I realized that although the colors were beautiful they stuck out like a sore thumb in the room.
I decided to COVER OVER the original tapestry and keep it in intact so that it could be restored back to it’s original state at any time. It looks stunning in the room now and I couldn’t be happier…..I smile every time I see it!

What a beautiful prayer chair. The original looks like something very old, and when I first saw it, I thought it looked like a chair that would have been inside of a church. The design and woodwork is amazing. I've never heard of a prayer chair, and what a special thing this is.

OMG this chair is gorgeous. I love it and what a great find. I would love one of these too and have never been able to even find one let alone see what kind of prices they are. Glad you found this one it is really so pretty. Love the new fabric.

I can see why it makes you smile, it's gorgeous! Good idea to cover over it too, so it can be restored back to its original condition if need be. Such a great purchase!
