I have had the plaster capital in the window with a French wine bottle placed on top for quite some time. When the weather was nice I opened the window to let fresh air in. One morning I came downstairs to discover pieces of plaster all over the floor. My heart sank….the constant pelting of the wind on the back side of the capital was causing it to crumble and deteriorate.
I tried the capital in several places around the house but it looked best placed under my statue on the French baker’s table. Ironically the French baker’s table is right next to the window where the capital was placed before. So, after traveling all over the house the capital ended up 5 ft away from it’s original spot!
Previously I had a wood capital under the Orchid but since I am using the larger plaster capital I switched it out for a stack of old ironstone plates I have collected over the years.
Notice the ladder in the reflection of the mirror? Moving one thing led to yet another…… causing the domino effect once again. I was going to edit the ladder out but decided to just leave it because this is real life and things aren’t always pretty around here.

Hope to see you there!

Hi Des, I love your capital! To me the chippery the better......
Sometimes moving things around gives us a fresh new look ......
Your home as always is simply beautiful, you inspire me in my own home, I thank you for that....
Have a great day....
Smiles~

Beautiful as always Des!
Thankfully your capital didn't get completely destroyed! It looks perfect under the statue. A stack of ironstone plates is always a favorite of mine. I noticed the ladder right away and kind of liked it in the reflection...looks like it was meant to be there. :-)
Mary Alice
how funny that your capital got a tour of the house and ended up back in the same room. I didn't even notice the ladder... what's wrong with me? lol

Your home is so elegant. Love it.
Hi, I am a enthusiastic new follower from GFC. I am in heaven, looking through all your blog with your beautiful decorating. All I can say is WOW!
Such a beautiful vignette on that incredibly gorgeous table!...The statue looks like it just belongs there...I wish I could open windows, but all I would get is hot air.....and love the reflection in the mirror!!! Glad you left that piece of real life in....I need to collect more ironstone plates...I love the way you and Mary Alice use them to showcase and elevate beautiful things!

Well, wherever things move to and whatever you display it is always beautiful. You have such pretty pieces to style with.
Oh, I love that statue with the crown, it's gorgeous. Your home looks very nice. I like to switch things around too. It makes everything look fresh and different.
Happy September, Deserae.
by the way, I really like that poem on your post today about 'mom'. Do you know who wrote it?
Oooops, I meant 'missing you' poem.
Des, I love using capitals for elevating things. Your vignettes are always elegant and so beautiful.
Hugs,
Sherry
I always enjoy seeing how you move things around. Everything looks so pretty and magazine worthy, as usual. :) Enjoy your week!
