A couple of months ago I picked up this gorgeous antique cross. At the time I had no idea where it would go but when I held it in my hands it gave me a really peaceful feeling so I had to buy it! I tried it in several different places and none seemed just right. Then the other day while walking down the stairs I suddenly knew this little space above the transom was the perfect spot.
The bead board seen in the picture is hung on the diagonal and is original to the house as are the stair treads. I love the way the treads are worn in the middle and chippy. You can only find charm like this in an old house………

That's the perfect spot for the cross. I'm a sucker for beadboard, but the new stuff is just not the same.
That place is just perfect for the cross. Love your bead board too!
amen sister!
love the cross and you are right about old houses. i love the way our old floor creaks and all its imperfections.
