Flashback Friday…….

I thought it would be fun to

share a few photos of the outside of our home

and how it has looked over the years.

The first picture was taken in the early 1900’s.

The steeple had been taken down and a new metal roof had been installed.

The inside of the schoolhouse had been converted into a private residence

and was now a farmhouse.

We believe this picture was taken in the 1930’s.

We know the well was capped during this time because the

date is on the well next to the pump.

The next couple of pictures were taken in

1984 before the house went under renovation to be converted into a B&B.

This is how the house looked when we bought it in 2003.

It had started to fall into disrepair again, there was ivy growing on the

inside of the house upstairs and the plaster was cracking badly.

The back wall of the house was bulging and needed to be rebuilt along

with a very long list of other issues.

The house today……

Over the years we have given

up vacations and a lot of other luxuries

so we could save this house.

In the end I wouldn’t trade it for anything though!

Have a great weekend my friends!

a la’ prochaine!

Love seeing your home and hearing it's story, Des.

We built our cottage ourselves, but believe restoring a home is a great deal more work. Congratulations on saving this home and turning it into such a beauty!

This was neat to see how the home started out and the transformation you have give this gem. Ivy growing in house, can't even imagine that, I can't even get ivy to grow anywhere I try, LOL.

That is amazing, Deserae. What a transformation from the first time the house was built. It looked charming when you first bought it, but it is so beautiful now, and the front yard is nice and groomed. You and your husband have done so much work on it, and it has really paid off.....you've made this house into a home sweet home.

love,
~Sheri

I don't believe I've ever seen pics of the outside of your house. I love that you have those old photos. Your house really has a great history to it and it's proof that some houses just need a little love to spring back to life. :) Y'all have done a wonderful job and should be very proud!
