The new rugs were a big ole flop!

Untitled 2

I was so excited when I found the leather and hemp rugs from Soft Surroundings. They were absolutely beautiful and just what I was looking for…… plus they were priced right! However the rugs were woven with itsy bitsy pieces of leather and hemp and the ends were not secured.  After a while the hemp ends that were sticking out began to unravel and become fuzzy. I was also constantly picking up little pieces of leather.

I knew they weren’t working but I just couldn’t find anything else I liked so I kept putting off sending them back.  Finally one day I had,had enough and called customer service and asked them to send me the rug sleeves so I could return them.

In the mean time I looked everywhere for different rugs but couldn’t find anything I liked and that I could afford. In the end I decided to order sea grass rugs again….they wear like iron and always look amazing. The only downside is I don’t like my linen furniture paired with the sea grass rugs. It is just too much beige for my personal taste….so out came the white slips again! Luckily I was able to use the sleeves the new rugs came in to send the old rugs back because I am still waiting a month later for the sleeves from Soft Surroundings to arrive.

Ugh, what a pain, Des. And I feel your pain, only slightly different. Buying a rug online is a gamble, I bought mine from Ballard's. I love, Mr. P. really disliked. Returning is a hassle, and I'm still resolving my decor dilemma. It's nice that you offer your opinion, though, as it's hard to know the pros/cons of the natural ones until real users relay. I read reviews, and thanks for sharing. Your sisals & slips are a classic look.

Not fun - but the seagrass rug does look great! I have thought about replacing my dining room rug with seagrass but I worry about keeping it clean under a table...

That's too bad about your rug. It did look so pretty but falling apart is never pretty or fun. The new one is nice with the slip covers.

That is a big inconvenience to say the least. I can't imagine shipping a rug back. I've had good luck with Soft Surroundings so hopefully your return will go smoothly. Your room looks beautiful.

i just don't think you can beat a seagrass rug and have them in 3 rooms. i need a new one for the sun room but have put off ordering one as it seems other things have taken priority lately.

i love yours and while the "new" rug looked good, i still like the seagrass ones better!

That's a shame they didn't work out for you. It's such a hassle to send back something as big as a rug. I actually really like how the sea grass ones look in your room. I've heard really good things about them, and they seem to last forever.

So sorry your rugs didn't work out for you. It bothers me so much when I have to return things, and drapes, blinds, and rugs are the hardest to return. I just bought a cream area rug for my great room, and I'm really happy with it because I now have soft carpet under my feet. Your rugs look nice against the white sofas, Deserae.

love,

I just hate when things don't work out - especially heavy large objects. Ugh.

Well if it helps your room looks amazing, I love the slips and love the seagrass rug. It all looks so awesome.

What a bummer, Des, and it all looked so pretty too, But it still does look pretty and I'm glad to hear that the sea grass wears well. When we start on our family room I will replace the rug and want something natural but there are so many, made of different materials, and some don't seem as soft as others. I will have to be asking for help when the time comes..Happy Tuesday..Judy

So sorry the new rugs didn't work out. :( It has got to be a pain returning them. Seems like most things for sale these days are such poor quality. It really is sad how quickly things fall apart.

I really like the seagrass. Perhaps you can overlay the seagrass with a natural hide rug????

Hopefully they have credited your account for the return. I think the sea grass looks great!

What a disappointment. Hopefully you'll be able to get it all worked out.

I think Soft Surroundings is expensive, so for those rugs to not have good quality would make me mad! Maybe that's why they were sold at an affordable price! LOL! I hate having to return something that I bought online. I can't believe how long it has taken for them to send you what you requested. That would turn me off from using them in the future. We just got a new Soft Surroundings store near me but it was mostly clothing.

I get those Soft Surroundings sales circulars in the mail but have never bought anything from there. This is kind of a cautionary tale for me. Should I decide to order something, I'll be very careful.

Sea grass is a wonderful choice and you KNOW it's going to last and last and last. I have a feeling you'll come up with another idea in addition to the white covers to eliminate the abundant beige in the room. You have really great taste, and it will all come in due time! Meanwhile, this is a beautiful look that is endearing AND enduring!

Have a great Wednesday!

Des,
Too bad about the rug. It did look so pretty. I have been on the hunt for a living room rug and I can't seem to find the right fit for my room. I do like the sea grass I think it looks pretty with your white slip furniture.
