DIY coffee table……..

I’m sure I am not the only one totally in love with this table from Restoration Hardware. However the price tag didn’t really fit into my budget after buying new living room furniture! So, what’s a girl to do? Beg the resident handyman to build her one of course!

Luckily the resident handyman loves to build me things! It took him only one day to whip this up…..incredible huh?

I had to keep reminding him that I didn’t need it to be perfect….it was suppose to look old and have flaws. The top was made using weathered wood that had been exposed to the elements……

A closer look at the top…….

The entire table was sprayed with a clear poly to protect the floor and furnishings so that the rust wouldn’t rub off on anything.

If you aren’t lucky enough to have a resident handyman who can build it,you can order one from: Restoration Hardware

Have a great weekend!

  1. It is wonderful! I love this style of table. Does your hubbie weld or did he attach the metal another way? Love the table!

  2. Des, I love it. My husband is a handyman, too. He doesn't normally build furniture, but he could. How was the frame made?

  3. As you already know, I love this table, and I was shocked to see it come together, LITERALLY overnight! Derek is so good - if Scott had that talent (and he doesn't) he'd never take the time to do that for me! You know, gotta save the world, one house sale at a time. LOL!

  4. Des, the table is awesome! Your resident handyman deserves big props!!! I really love the "industrial" look with the "weathered/antiquey" (is that last one a word?! lol!) look. Absolutely beautiful, and it looks indestructible, which would be perfect with the boys in my house! lol!

I wish your handyman hubby lived near me because I would have him make a bunch of them and sell them in my shop!
