Spring into Warm Weather and Design

Today we have a guest post by Grace Niland at Inspired by Grace.

Prospects are looking bright for home decor trends in 2012. Now is the time to get excited about all the colors and patterns that will be making their way into every day homes this spring, from blazing oranges and yellows to cool geometric patterns.

Nature inspired home decor themes are on everyone's mind this season. Soothing neutrals such as browns, beiges, milky whites, and even grays are very popular right now and can create a gorgeous palette for any home decor. Pairing neutrals with pops of color such as yellow or teal (which are two shades that are both in trend right now, too) is a great way to incorporate some fun into your décor and make you feel as if you are in a Hamptons home by the beach. Natural hues can create a relaxing environment and simple ambiance that is sure to please, especially popular for the bedroom.

If you're looking for a bolder look, bright hues such as orange, yellow, and blue are making a big comeback this season too. Consider using these colors in your living room or kitchen for a mood lifting effect but with a touch of decorative flair to impress your guests when they come to visit. If you're using brighter hues as a wall color, though, be sure to include muted colors and patterns as accent pieces and in your furniture so that the overall palette doesn't become too overwhelming or distracting to the eye.

Patterns with geometric schemes are now emerging on the scene and even wallpaper in these trendy designs are becoming increasingly popular again, too. To incorporate these fun patterns into your own home decor, consider purchasing a few throw pillows or any other accent piece in a pattern with colors that complement your existing room palette. Mixing patterns is also appropriate and can be accomplished tastefully as long as the color palette within each pattern is similar and won’t clash.

Floral designs are in again this spring season and are beautiful to include in home decor plans for those with a taste for elegance. Popular in neutral and pale color schemes, floral designs can be used in bedrooms and bathrooms for a classic appeal. Consider purchasing a new bedspread or shower curtain in these pretty designs to utilize this growing trend.

  1. Great guest post! I am loving my neutral palette right now, but have mixed some flowers in for Spring for a little pop of color. Those were some good tips.
