A simple solution…..

We have lived in our home almost eleven years and the

window in the hallway has always stumped me until recently.

Pretty much every room in the house has one of these oddly placed windows

making window treatments a real challenge!

window2

Then one night while laying

in bed I remembered I had two of these old shutters I wasn’t using.

Originally they were painted green and I repainted them grey……and then white.

I used them in the dining room for quite

a while until I found the pair I have in there now.

window 3

The hallway only has one North facing window so I needed a solution

that would not block a lot of light and wouldn’t impede

on walking up and down the stairs since they are quite narrow

and very,very steep.

window4

The hallway is a work in progress…….

One of these days I’ll get it just right….

and then we’ll probably move!

What a great solution! The shutter looks wonderful there! I have my best ideas while lying in bed too. :) In fact, I started keeping a pad of paper and a pencil in my night stand drawer! Lol! Some of my best decorating ideas have come to me at night. :)

Love your deep window sills! Using the shutter makes a great frame for your window without covering it up. It's nice to see more of your hallway.

How lucky to have such thick sills !
And that shutter looks beautiful there - you couldn't have picked anything more perfect !!!

A perfect solution, Des! It looks right at home.
I was up in the middle of the night scribbling a note in the dark. Why do these ideas come to us then? I could barely read the note when I woke up this morning. :)
Happy April!
