I recently decided to take down the roman shades in the living room and dining room. The only time I ever raised or lowered the shades is when I was cleaning them. Even though the shades were not inexpensive almost every time I raised or lowered them the strings would come unattached because the shades weighed so much due to how tall our windows are. Reattaching the strings meant dragging the ladder out and climbing up into the window to reattach them which got old really quickly. To give you an idea of how large our windows are I am average height and can stand comfortably inside the windows!!!!
The amount of light that comes in now is amazing! I only wish I had done this SOONER! I know this look isn’t for everyone but I am loving all the sunlight now……

Beautiful, Des. There's nothing better than natural light especially when there are beautiful drapes like yours to frame it.
ReplyDeleteYour home always has such a soothing feel about it. Love the way the light fills this room.
ReplyDeleteOh, I absolutely adore your home and all that sunshine - the simplicity of your room is stunning, I should very much like to spend hours in those spaces.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS!
Your home is so gorgeous and I am with you, I love having the light come in and as little window treatments as possible.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!

We removed all of the wood blinds throughout our entire home last year and put up white linen curtains that are a bit tattered with no hem instead. We felt the same way afterwards..."wow there is so much more light" and
ReplyDelete"why didn't we do it sooner!" It really does make a beautiful difference. Yours is gorgeous.
Your slip-covered chairs look lovely too. We have four in our sitting room, two facing the other two, with the same white toss pillows. We love them. They are so much more comfortable than I ever thought they would be and well made. Slip-covered furniture is wonderful. I will never go back to anything else.
I love the bright sunshine, and as we enter fall I want to soak up as much natural sunlight as I can ;-)

Beautiful.
I love the extra light you're getting now. I can definitely tell that your rooms are brighter now. Now you have one less thing to dust!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for less dusting, so I think this is a great idea! Love all the natural light too. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh swooning Des over your pretty living room. The natural light coming in the room is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday my friend.

ReplyDeleteI love it when the light shines in the windows. I never close up the windows completely on the first floor of our home. Your photos of your gorgeous rooms are wonderful!
