This is the front parlor….
The massive window faces the street.
This is the doorway leading to the side parlor.
With the doors closed. The doors have handpainted faux wood grain to look like cherry wood.
You can see wallpaper removal has started.
All FOUR layers!
It has been a very slow process even with using a wallpaper steamer.
There is not a single room in the house that does NOT have wallpaper.
Til next time…..

This is so exciting. I can't wait to see what you do with this place.
I am enjoying each step as you make your new home as beautiful as your last home.
Oh bummer Des, this would make me run from wallpaper.

It's exciting, but I know what you mean with the wallpaper. And four layers? Yikes! Can't wait to see what you do with it, it's a beautiful house!
Wallpaper is back. I just heard a pod cast that said floral wallpaper is in and I have read that as well.Love it so far!
Looks so pretty with the woodwork!
Des, how exciting. I say that because I have been through it. Really alot of work but so worth it. How many layers of carpeting are there? I hope previous owners didn't do what our's did. With each layer of carpet they trimmed the bottom of the doors so they would close. After 5 layers you can imagine how short the doors are. We had to add on to all the doors. Your woodwork is magnificent. How wonderful it isn't painted. Unless you want it to be. All of ours was painted so we didn't try to strip it. I would love if it were natural but painted is really pretty to, I think..Happy Reno.. It is going to be gorgeous and I shall be looking forward to each step..Happy Wednesday..Judy
This is going to be an amazing journey - thank you for sharing it with all of us. The gingerbread spandrel is beautiful, and I am in love with those doors and the stained glass window.
Des I love the doors how beautiful. Ohhhh the labor with the wallpaper removal. It will all be so worth it.
Are you taking the carpet out and do you know if there is wood floors under the carpet. I cannot wait to see what you continue to do with this place. I wish I lived closer to come and help you.
Hugs,
Kris
