The downstairs bathroom is finally done…..well mostly. I still have a few final touches to add but nothing major. The room didn’t turn exactly how I envisioned. The big pine cabinet turned out to be quite a challenge to paint and ended up being more rustic than I anticipated when it was finally finished. In the end though, I’m pretty happy with it.

The tile floor that was in the bathroom previously had cracked which is what led to the whole renovation. We had ignored it for a couple of years but when it started to get worse we knew we needed to do something. The wood floor is the same flooring we used in the rest of the first floor. It is maple reclaimed from an old gymnasium……….

I bought this pine cabinet eighteen years ago….I was told by the antique dealer that a farmer made it for his bride to store her spices and other kitchen necessities in sometime in the early 1900’s. I was also told that by the style of carvings on the piece that it was made in Pennsylvania.

I’m not sure the story is really true or not however the flower carvings match the carvings on the molding in our home!!!!!! I did not realize this until I started painting the piece!!!!!

I love the little spice drawers….each one is a little different size since they are all handmade.

The tub received a new coat of black paint…….

as did the feet!

Fresh fluffy monogrammed towels hang on the side of the tub…..

The new floor is such a pretty color……

A new chandy was added…..it took the two of us three hours to assemble it!!! I was VERY happy to finally get it hung!!!!!!
