A little spring pick me up……

With spring officially right around the corner I decided I needed a little spring pick me up!

I have been looking for a new shower curtain for a little while

and found this one at Ballard Designs the other day.

Of course, I had to have it monogrammed!

It is hard to find an extra long shower curtain but Ballard Designs offers it in both lengths.

I was surprised at how much a small waste basket can cost…. I found this one at Wayfair for $15.85+shipping. I wasn’t compensated for this post, I just wanted to share my bargain with you since I know everyone is trying to save money these days?!?!
Also, thank you so much to everyone who took the time to leave a comment on the bathroom reveal post…..I really appreciate all the sweet compliments!!!!!!

The bathroom reveal…..

The downstairs bathroom is finally done…..well mostly. I still have a few final touches to add but nothing major. The room didn’t turn exactly how I envisioned. The big pine cabinet turned out to be quite a challenge to paint and ended up being more rustic than I anticipated when it was finally finished. In the end though, I’m pretty happy with it.

bathroom2

The tile floor that was in the bathroom previously had cracked which is what led to the whole renovation. We had ignored it for a couple of years but when it started to get worse we knew we needed to do something. The wood floor is the same flooring we used in the rest of the first floor. It is maple reclaimed from an old gymnasium……….

bathroom4

I bought this pine cabinet eighteen years ago….I was told by the antique dealer that a farmer made it for his bride to store her spices and other kitchen necessities in sometime in the early 1900’s. I was also told that by the style of carvings on the piece that it was made in Pennsylvania.

bathroom6

I’m not sure the story is really true or not however the flower carvings match the carvings on the molding in our home!!!!!! I did not realize this until I started painting the piece!!!!!

bathroom7

I love the little spice drawers….each one is a little different size since they are all handmade.

bathroom5

The tub received a new coat of black paint…….

bathroom21

as did the feet!

Fresh fluffy monogrammed towels hang on the side of the tub…..

The new floor is such a pretty color……

A new chandy was added…..it took the two of us three hours to assemble it!!! I was VERY happy to finally get it hung!!!!!!

Changes in the hall bathroom……

Let me start by saying that I realize these pics are not the best. They were taken with my i phone camera because I was unable to load the pictures from my Nikon camera onto a computer I am borrowing. My computer died last week so I am trying to make the best of what I have to deal with.

A little step stool…….

I found this little step stool while out junking the other day.

It was just too darn cute to pass up!

stool5

It has a cute little patch on one of the legs

and multiple layers of paint.

stool1

Gracie was insistent that she be in the photos today!

My poor girl has allergies really bad…..

stool2

I also found this concrete piece……..

I swear it weighs like 40 lbs. it is so heavy for such a small piece!

A new chippy ladder…….

I found this ladder at a little antique

shop right before Christmas.

I didn’t know where I would use it when

I first spotted it but bought it anyway because I

loved the chippy paint so much.

Then one day it hit me that it was the perfect size

to hold towels next to the bathtub.

Hope your week is off to a great start?!?!?!

Repurposing an old cabinet……

I have had this old Hoosier helper cabinet for years. I can’t even remember where we got it originally since we have had it forever. For the last ten years though it has been in our mudroom used for storage. I needed a cabinet for the hall bathroom so I convinced my poor husband to help me haul it upstairs. This is definitely not a piece made of pressed wood, it weighs a ton!

cabinet6

It was a tan color so I gave it a quick coat of white paint that I had on hand and then distressed it a little and called it good. I still need to get the handy man to made a leg for the back. Currently it is propped up with a paint can but shhhhh don’t tell anyone okay?

cabinet4

The clam basket on top of the cabinet hold bundles of lavender……the smell is just divine! This room is definitely a work in progress, I guess you just can’t rush things sometimes?!?!? I would like to get the room done soon though…..as in this year!
